Configure authentication to QuickBooks

Beta

This feature is in Beta. To use it, a workspace admin must turn on Lakeflow Connect for QuickBooks from the Previews page. See Manage Databricks previews.

This page shows how to configure QuickBooks to enable authentication from Databricks for the QuickBooks connector. Use the credentials you obtain from the steps on this page to create a Unity Catalog connection in Databricks.

Prerequisites

  • A QuickBooks Online company. To ingest test data, you can use a QuickBooks Online sandbox company instead.
  • An Intuit Developer account that can create apps.
  • The authenticating user must be able to sign in to the QuickBooks Online company and authorize apps for it.
  • You need your Databricks workspace domain to set the app's redirect URI.

Configure QuickBooks

The QuickBooks connector authenticates with OAuth user-to-machine (U2M) authorization through an Intuit app. In this step, create an app, register the Databricks redirect URI, and note the credentials that you enter on the connection page. For more information, see Get your client ID and client secret and Set up OAuth 2.0.

  1. Sign in to the Intuit Developer portal and open your app dashboard.
  2. Click Create an app, then select QuickBooks Online and Payments.
  3. Enter a name for the app, select the Accounting scope (com.intuit.quickbooks.accounting), and click Create app.
  4. Open the app's redirect URI settings, select Development for a sandbox company or Production for a live company, and click Add URI.
  5. Enter https://<your-databricks-workspace-domain>/login/oauth/http.html, then click Save.
  6. Open Keys and credentials and select the same environment. Note the Client ID and Client Secret. Use these credentials to create a Unity Catalog connection in Databricks.
  7. Note your QuickBooks company ID (Realm ID). To find it, sign in to QuickBooks Online, click Settings, and select Subscriptions and billing. The company ID appears at the top of the page. For more information, see Find your QuickBooks Online company ID.
