Data Classification detects sensitive data and assigns system tags to matching columns. For a mapping of tags to compliance frameworks, see Compliance framework reference. The following tables show which tags are relevant to common regulatory frameworks. A tag may appear in more than one framework.

PII

These tags detect personally identifiable information (PII) — data that can be used to identify an individual, either directly or in combination with other data.

Regional tags

Regional tags detect sensitive data specific to certain countries or regions. With the exception of United States tags, which are available in all regions, regional tags are available in Databricks workspaces deployed in the corresponding region only.

United States

These tags are available in Databricks workspaces deployed in all regions.

US Individual Taxpayer Identification Number	class.us_itin	Tax processing ID for individuals not eligible for a US SSN.
US bank account number	class.us_bank_number
US driver license	class.us_driver_license	US state-issued driver license. Use class.driver_license for broader coverage across US, UK, and DE.
US passport	class.us_passport	US passport number. Use class.passport for broader coverage across US, UK, and DE.

United Kingdom

These tags are available in Databricks workspaces deployed in EU regions only.

UK National Insurance Number	class.uk_nino	Used in the UK for social security and tax purposes.

Germany

These tags are available in Databricks workspaces deployed in EU regions only.
