Configure authentication to Cribl.Cloud

Beta

This feature is in Beta. To use it, a workspace admin must turn on Lakeflow Connect for Cribl from the Previews page. See Manage Databricks previews.

This page shows how to configure Cribl.Cloud to enable authentication from Databricks for the Cribl connector. Use the credentials retrieved from the steps on this page to create a Unity Catalog connection in Databricks.

Prerequisites

  • The connector ingests from Cribl.Cloud commercial organizations. It does not support self-hosted Cribl deployments.
  • You must have the Owner or Admin role in the Cribl.Cloud Organization to create an API Credential. See Cribl.Cloud API authentication.
  • Organization Permissions on API Credentials are available only on certain Cribl.Cloud plan or license tiers. Without them, every API Credential has Admin permission.

Configure Cribl.Cloud

Create a Cribl.Cloud API Credential to obtain the Client ID and Client Secret that Databricks uses to authenticate, then record your Organization ID and Workspace ID. See Cribl.Cloud API authentication.

Create an API Credential

  1. Sign in to Cribl.Cloud as an Organization Owner or Admin.
  2. In the top bar, select Products > Cribl.
  3. In the sidebar, select Organization > API Credentials.
  4. Click Add Credential.
  5. Enter a Name and, optionally, a Description.
  6. In the Organization Permissions drop-down menu, select a permission:
    • Admin or Owner grants admin access to all Workspaces.
    • User requires you to set permissions for specific Workspaces. Grant access to the Workspace you want to ingest.
  7. (Optional) Under IP Allowlist, add up to 10 IPv4 CIDR ranges.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret. You enter these when you create the connection.

Find your Organization ID and Workspace ID

  1. To find the Organization ID, open the organization menu in the top bar and select Manage Organizations. The ID appears beneath the Organization's name. See Cribl.Cloud portal.
  2. To find the Workspace ID, select Organization > Manage Workspaces in the sidebar. The list shows each Workspace's name and ID. See Cribl.Cloud Workspaces.
  3. Confirm both values against your Workspace URL. Select Workspace > Access to view the URL, which has the form https://<workspace-id>-<organization-id>.cribl.cloud. Use the Workspace ID, not the Workspace name or alias.
