Create a Google Search Console connection

Create a Google Search Console connection in Catalog Explorer to store authentication credentials for Lakeflow Connect ingestion. Any user with the USE CONNECTION privilege on the connection can then create Google Search Console ingestion pipelines without needing direct access to the credentials.

Prerequisites

Complete the source setup. Use the credentials retrieved there to create the connection.

Create a connection

The Google Search Console connector supports two authentication methods: OAuth 2.0 user-to-machine (U2M) and OAuth 2.0 machine-to-machine (M2M) using a service account. Follow the steps for your chosen method.

OAuth U2M (Recommended)

1. In the Databricks workspace, click Catalog > Create > Create a connection.
2. On the Connection basics page of the Set up connection wizard, specify a Connection name.
3. In the Connection type drop-down menu, select Google Search Console.
4. In the Auth type drop-down menu, select OAuth (User Authorization).
5. (Optional) Add a comment.
6. Click Next.
7. On the Authentication page, enter the following credentials from Configure authentication to Google Search Console:
   • Client ID: The unique identifier for your Google Search Console OAuth App.
   • Client Secret: The secure password for your Google Search Console OAuth App.
8. Click Sign in to Google and complete the sign-in flow in the dialog. Grant the requested permissions when prompted.
9. After you return to the Databricks workspace, click Create connection.

Service Account

1. In the Databricks workspace, click Catalog > Create > Create a connection.
2. On the Connection basics page of the Set up connection wizard, specify a Connection name.
3. In the Connection type drop-down menu, select Google Search Console.
4. In the Auth type drop-down menu, select Service Account.
5. (Optional) Add a comment.
6. Click Next.
7. On the Authentication page, enter the following credentials from Configure authentication to Google Search Console:
   • Service Account JSON Key: Your GCP service-account key JSON.
   • User Email to Impersonate (optional): Google Workspace user to impersonate via domain-wide delegation. Omit to use the service account's own identity.
8. Click Create connection.
