Create a Notion connection
This feature is in Beta. Workspace admins can control access to this feature from the Previews page by opting into the Notion connector preview. See Manage Databricks previews.
Create a Notion connection in Catalog Explorer to store authentication credentials for Lakeflow Connect ingestion. Any user with the USE CONNECTION privilege on the connection can then create Notion ingestion pipelines without needing direct access to the credentials.
Alternatively, admin users can create a connection and a pipeline at the same time in the data ingestion UI. See Ingest data from Notion.
For privilege requirements, see Connect to managed ingestion sources.
Prerequisites
Complete the source setup. Use the OAuth Client ID and Client Secret retrieved there to create the connection.
Create a connection
- In the Databricks workspace, click
Catalog > Create > Create a connection.
- On the Connection basics page of the Set up connection wizard, specify a Connection name.
- In the Connection type drop-down menu, select Notion.
- (Optional) Add a comment.
- Click Next.
- On the Authentication page, enter the following credentials from Configure authentication to Notion:
- Client ID: The OAuth client ID of your Notion public integration.
- Client Secret: The OAuth client secret of your Notion public integration.
- Click Sign in with Notion. Notion opens a page picker.
- In the page picker, select the pages and data sources to share with the connection, then approve access. The connector can only ingest pages and data sources you share here.
- Complete authentication and return to the connection form.
- Click Create connection.
Notion grants access by the pages you select in the page picker. There are no OAuth scopes to configure. Sharing a page also shares its child pages, so new pages created under a shared page are ingested on the next pipeline update. A new top-level page is not shared automatically. To ingest additional top-level pages or data sources later, edit the shared selection in Notion.
