Configure authentication to Vimeo
This feature is in Beta. To use it, a workspace admin must turn on Lakeflow Connect for Vimeo from the Previews page. See Manage Databricks previews.
Configure Vimeo to enable authentication from Databricks for the Vimeo connector. The connector reads team, team member, team role, and audit log data from the Vimeo API. Use the credentials from these steps to create a Unity Catalog connection in Databricks.
Prerequisites
- A Vimeo account on a plan that includes team features. Team, team member, and team role data require a paid Team or Enterprise plan.
- To ingest the
audit_logstable, an Enterprise Vimeo account with audit logs enabled, and an API app created on that Enterprise account. Audit logs are available only to Account Owners and Administrators on Enterprise accounts, and only through an app created on the Enterprise account. See How to access and enable audit logs. - A personal access token generated by an Account Owner or Administrator of the team, so the token can read the team and audit log data.
Configure Vimeo
Create a Vimeo API app, generate a personal access token, and record the account owner user ID.
Generate a personal access token
Create an app on the Vimeo Developer site and generate a personal access token. For details, see How to create an API app and How to generate a personal access token.
- Sign in to the Vimeo Developer site as an Account Owner or Administrator of the team. To ingest
audit_logs, sign in with the Enterprise account. An app created on any other account can't read audit logs. - Go to My Apps, then click Create an app. Enter a name and description, then accept the terms.
- Open the app, then go to the Authentication section.
- Under Generate an access token, select Authenticated (you).
- Select the public, private, and stats scopes.
- Click Generate token. Vimeo shows the token only one time. Copy it to create a Unity Catalog connection in Databricks.
Find the account owner user ID
The account owner user ID is the numeric user ID of the team account owner, even when an Administrator generates the token.
-
Using the personal access token, call
GET https://api.vimeo.com/me/teams:Bashcurl -H "Authorization: Bearer <personal-access-token>" https://api.vimeo.com/me/teams -
In the response, find the team to ingest. Its
user_roleisOwnerfor a team you own, orAdminfor a team you administer. -
Note the numeric ID at the end of that team's
owner.urifield, for example/users/198765432. This value is the account owner user ID that you enter when you create a Unity Catalog connection.
