Set up your SAP Databricks account

This article explains how an SAP BDC admin can provision and set up an SAP Databricks account. The admin who provisions the SAP Databricks account is able to invite the first user, who becomes the initial account admin in the SAP Databricks account.

Step 1: Provision SAP Databricks from within "SAP for Me" portal

Follow the instructions in the SAP documentation to provision your SAP Databricks account from within the SAP for Me portal.

Step 2: Complete Databricks sign up

After your SAP Databricks account is provisioned, you are redirected to the Databricks sign-up flow where you will verify your email address and agree to the terms and conditions.

The first user added to the SAP Databricks account is the initial account admin. This user will receive an email when the account is ready to use. The first workspace is also automatically created.

(Optional) Step 3: Set up network configurations

After you create your SAP Databricks account, you can optionally configure networking settings. For instructions, see Networking and security.

Step 4: Add users and groups to your account

You can now add users and groups to your SAP Databricks account. You can do so manually or by enabling the integration of SAP Databricks with SAP Cloud Identity Service, Identity Provisioning from within your SAP Cloud Identity Service administration experience.

After users have been added to the account, users can visit login.databricks.com and sign in with their SSO credentials.

For instructions on using SAP Databricks as a user, see SAP Databricks user guide.

Create a new workspace

Your first workspace is automatically created for you when you provision your SAP Databricks account. If your organization requires separate environments for different stages of development or for different teams, follow these steps to create a new workspace:

  1. In the account console, navigate to the Workspaces tab.
  2. Click Create workspace.
  3. Enter a workspace name and select the region.
  4. Click Create.
  5. After the workspace is done provisioning, click the Permissions tab in the workspace details page.
  6. Use the Add permissions button to assign users and groups permissions in the new workspace.
note

Accounts can only deploy workspaces in a single region.
